A fun-filled day of festivities will be highlighted with a tradition started more than 400 years ago.
The day at Chilham Castle on Saturday, July 1, includes the Chilham Chase, a race started by the castle’s original owner, Sir Dudley Digges, 401 years ago.
The fun run will be open for teams of two or more, with the option of running in fancy dress – most seem to prefer that option! Participants will be jumping over horse hurdles, doing a sack race and more.
There will also be live music, a bouncy castle and lawn games, classic car and bird of prey displays and a costume exhibition.
Hear the jazz vocals of Sarah-Jane Hassell in Javajam and feel-good numbers from the Maida Vales and the Chillbillies, all of whom will keep you dancing on the castle’s lawn until late.
Gates open at 11am, with entries closing for the fun run at noon and races getting their starters’ orders at 1pm.
Live music continues past 9pm, with the gates closing at 11pm.
Food and drinks will be available to buy, with a bar supplied by Shepherd Neame and a VIP area sponsored by Taittinger.
Entry costs £10 for ages 15 and over, £5 for children and £25 for a family of up to two adults and three children.
Limited VIP balcony tickets cost £150.
