Veteran British actress and singer Anita Harris has cancelled her show in the county.

The former Carry On star was due to perform a one-off evening of songs and chat at Deal's Astor Theatre on Saturday, August 24.

But a theatre spokesman announced this afternoon that the show has been cancelled due to illness.

The statement said simply: "Anita Harris has been rushed to hospital and has to cancel tomorrow night's performance. Please contact the Astor Box Office for refunds."

It is not yet known how serious Anita's illness is, or if the show at the Astor will be rescheduled.
