More on KentOnline
Kent Life in Maidstone boasts many varieties of apple, which will be hand picked from the historic orchards days before this weekend’s Apple and Cider festival.
Up to 35 varieties of apples will be on sale at the farming attraction in Sandling Lane, Maidstone, over the weekend of Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7.
Visitors will be able to try and buy, with some varieties dating back to the 1500s.
Along with your stash of apples don’t forget your free apple cookbook featuring some old fashioned favourites.
You can also watch the traditional process of apple pressing, as the fresh apples are cut, crushed, pulped and then squeezed in a giant Victorian press to produce apple juice.
There will also be the chance to sample a cider or three - just head to the cider tent to find out more. There could even be a cider cocktail on offer, or a visit from a local cider supplier.
There will also be live and local music throughout the weekend, local morris dancers and apple crafts for the children, plus a visit from kids’ favourite Basil Brush, who will be entertaining younger visitors in the Big Top.
While you’re at the site, make sure you pop round to Cuddle Corner and take a tractor ride, or visit the historic houses and take the children to play in the play barn.
Kent Life is open from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. For more details go to kentlife.org.uk/event To find out about half term Halloween fun at the site, click here.
