Antiques are back at the Kent Showground at Detling near Maidstone, for one day, and they'll be out in the fresh air.
The Detling Outdoor Antiques Market will be staged by B2B Events on Sunday, July 19, and is the first post-lockdown event for the company.
The event, which will be open to both trade and public buyers from 8am until 3.30pm, will be an entirely outdoor market, with none of the buildings available.
“Hosting an event outside allows us to re-start trading opportunities safely,” said Helen Yourston, B2B Events director. “We have very much missed our dealers and buyers and look forward to welcoming them to this single-day fair.”
The outdoor market replaces the normal Detling Antiques & Collectors Fair that was due to take place at the showground on both days of the weekend.
For this weekend, buyers can pop along from 8am, for £5 per person, paying on the gate via cash or card. The car park for buyers will be open from 7.30am.
Strict hygiene measures will be in place, with a one-way system and sanitisers throughout the site. Social distancing will be in place and face masks are recommended though not compulsory. Regular hand washing will be encouraged and buyers are asked not to pick up items without asking dealers first.
Helen added: “Whilst it might not be the usual experience at an antiques event it’s the start of a new kind of normal – and most importantly a chance to get back to the business of buying and selling pre-loved goods.”
Catering vans will be available at the event for take away only and there will be toilet facilities.
Weather permitting, there will be hundreds of stalls with pre-loved finds, from 8am to 3.30pm. Find out more here.
