You can never start too early when it comes to being pampered. Now a Maidstone hotel is offering princess parties for eight to 14-year-olds - with the emphasis on pampering and fun! Wendy Atkins took her daughter and four other nine-year-olds for a really girly treat.
When it comes to getting pampered who doesn’t like the idea of a swim, having your nails done and an indulgent afternoon tea? Sound good?
And just because you are aged nine, why shouldn’t that include you too?
A Princess Party Package at the Marriott Tudor Park hotel in Maidstone can now provide just the thing.
Your little ones can enjoy a swim in the hotel’s leisure club’s pool, a choice of a manicure or pedicure and an afternoon tea.
My group – Sylvia, Anna, Ava, Marnie and Megan - were warmly greeted at the spa reception and given a towel and fluffy robe each. Once changed into swimsuits they all headed for the pool, which at 1.2m maximum depth proved perfect for this bunch of young swimmers – leaving us adults in the dry.
After having plenty of fun splashing around it was a bit hard to get them all out of the pool in readiness for the next treat.
Eventually, we had five robe-clad girls ready for a manicure or pedicure. As our group were at school the next day and would have to remove finger nail polish, they opted for painted toes.
Time to sit back and relax in the capable hands of Hannah and Victoria who treated each young guests just like adults – letting them all choose their own colours of nail varnish.
Victoria explained: “They get a file, cuticle work, foot rasp and cream before we paint the nails. It’s nice doing children’s feet as older skin tends to be tough to the touch.”
Ava was first up on the couch – choosing a bright red for her toes. “I liked having my feet rubbed with the cream,” she said. Which was just the thing as she had come straight from football practice to join in the pampering!
Sylvia, who decided on light blue, said: “I like the foot rub too, all of it really – it was cool!”
Once all the toes had been painted, it was time to get changed – and all the girls had opened-toed shoes or flip-flops to wear to show off their colourful toes.
Now on to the last part... afternoon tea. And what a tea awaited us. The girls were greeted with a pink-themed, sparkly table set with napkins and plates. Two types of squash were provided and , in keeping with the party, the girls were all give a cocktail glass complete with sparkly pink sugar coated rim, to drink from. Two towers of cakes, sandwiches and scones arrived with cream and jam.
It didn’t take long for our girls to get stuck in and the tasty items were quickly disappearing. But luckily for us adults there were a couple of cream slices left over – and we were happy to help out our little princesses.
So, after a fun couple of hours being treated like adults, what did the girls think of their afternoon? “Brilliant!” they all yelled.
