Macknade in Faversham to host final summer party, plus four more food and drink festivals this September

A Kent farm shop is seeing out summer with a bang as it hosts an end-of-season party.

Macknade, a food hall and outdoor venue in Faversham, is throwing one last summer bash with live music, food tastings, drinks masterclasses and lawn games.

The site has been putting on weekly live bands, pop-up food stalls and bars all summer, and this marks the final event of the series.

It all kicks off with guided tastings from local producers and food stands serving dishes like katsu curry, wood-fired pizzas and spicy tacos from midday.

Then, at 3pm, Kent-based gypsy jazz band, Gypskazz, will be playing a series of quirky covers, followed by a high-energy soul set from Project F at 6pm.

It all takes place on Saturday, September 7 and is free to attend.

That’s not the only place where you can raise a glass to the end of summertime over the weekend.

Iron Pier Brewery will be hosting its annual beer festival with more than 25 casks and 17 kegs to choose from.

The Northfleet brewery will have tipples from the likes of Vault City and Deya Brewing Company and there will also be food trucks visiting on each day of the free festival from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8.

If you’re a fan of real ale, the East Malling Beer and Cider Festival returns, showcasing the best of local brews.

The event, organised by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), will have around 70 real ales and 30 ciders and perries on offer, along with live music and food vendors on Saturday, September 7.

There will also be free shuttle buses from Maidstone East, Aylesford and West Malling train stations to the festival site at the East Malling Research Centre.

It’s free for card-carrying CAMRA members and £6 for non-members, to be paid at the gate.

On Saturday, September 7, a free festival is coming to Sevenoaks, bringing with it tasty food and family entertainment.

The Sevenoaks Street Food Fest will be at the Vine Gardens from 12pm to 7pm and has lots of global food stalls, baked treats, artisan produce, pop-up bars and live music.

The kids will also be kept busy with face painting, hair braiding and craft activities.

Finally, you can round off the weekend at the Dartford Sports Bar, which will be hosting its long-awaited beer festival in the pub garden.

The bar, which was recently visited by Secret Drinker, will have a wide range of real ale, craft larger and ciders on offer. There will also be hot food and live entertainment throughout the day.

It’s free to attend but, if you’re expecting to sink a few pints, you can buy 10 drink tokens in advance for £25. The festival takes place on Sunday, September 8.
