Prize-winning authors and famous faces will be popping up for a series of live events at a two-week literary festival.
The Sevenoaks Literary Festival takes place across the town from Monday, September 26 to Sunday, October 9 and will see appearances from the likes of Susannah Constantine, Alan Johnson and Kat Farmer.
The festival, which is celebrating its 21st year, is run by volunteers and sponsored by long-term partner Sevenoaks Bookshop, which will act as the event’s official book retailer.
This year, the line-up includes What Not to Wear’s Susannah Constantine, who will be discussing her memoir Ready for Absolutely Nothing, and former Labour MP Peter Bradley, who will be talking about his family’s past with local historian Professor David Kilingray.
Fashion stylist and TV presenter Kat Farmer and bestselling author Christie Watson will also be sharing their experiences of midlife with their books Get Changed and Quilt on Fire.
Also appearing at the festival is musician and broadcaster Felix White, former Cabinet minister Alan Johnson, Sunday Times bestseller Bonnie Garmus and nature writers Ben Dark and Leif Bersweden.
The events will be taking place at various venues around Sevenoaks, including the Ship Theatre, Walthamstow Hall, Wildernesse House and the Bat and Ball Centre.
The festival is also supported by Sevenoaks Town Council, who will organise its free annual literary event for more than 450 local primary school children to coincide with the festival. This has, in the past, included storytime sessions, author meet-and-greets and talks with childrens’ writers.
The Sevenoaks Literary Festival takes place from Monday, September 26 to Sunday, October 9. Visitors will need to purchase tickets to each individual author event in advance.
