Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas is proving she hasn’t forgotten her roots as she sets off on her first solo tour.
The Gravesham-born singer, who released her debut album My Way in October, is returning to the county for a night of Golden Buzzer-worthy music this February.
Sydnie first appeared on TV screens last April when she performed her rendition of Tomorrow from the musical Annie in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli.
She was sent straight through to the semi-finals by Amanda Holden, who pressed the Golden Buzzer after her performance, and continued to progress to the final with songs such as Frank Sinatra’s My Way and Judy Garland’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
After graduating from the D&B Academy of Performing Arts in Bromley in 2014, Sydnie made her off-West End London stage debut in the musical Lazarus and performed on cruise ships.
The singer and former New Ash Green Rugby Club teammate saw the ITV competition as one of her final chances, having experienced a run of unsuccessful auditions.
In June, Sydnie won the talent contest, securing the £250,000 prize and a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.
Sydnie also stepped into the sparkly high heels of Fairy Christmas as part of the Orchard West Theatre’s panto, Sleeping Beauty, in Dartford last year.
Her debut album, My Way, includes new recordings of the songs that wowed audiences on the show, along with a number of other covers.
Sydnie Christmas will perform songs from My Way at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury on Thursday, February 13. You can book tickets online here.
