What will the arts look like in 25 years’ time and is imagination more important than knowledge?
These are some of the pressing questions to be addressed with TV’s Billie JD Porter at UPrising on Saturday, July 15, at Canterbury’s Gulbenkian.
ART31’s youth board have put together a one-day festival focusing on the challenges facing young people today, including mental health and wellbeing, employment and education and looking at how to challenge ideas and make change in the arts.
Apart from discussions and debates there will be animation, music, rap and dance workshops, with artists such as Envy and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Re:Bourne.
ART31 is a movement, empowering 13-25 year olds across Kent and giving them access to artistic opportunities and teaching them creative skills. The ART31 youth board is made up of young people from locations all over Kent, who have organised UPrising.
The all-day event starts at 10am with tickets for over-25s £50 and free for under-25s. Visit art31.co.uk or call 01227 769075.
