The Voice finalists Into the Ark will join Tom Jones at his gig in Canterbury this summer, it has been announced.
The Welsh singing duo, Taylor Jones and Dane Lloyd - fresh from their second place on the ITV show on Sunday - will join Sir Tom as he performs for the first time in Canterbury, at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, on Saturday, July 8.
Sir Tom was their mentor on the show and the Welsh boys bonded with the legendary singer, forming a friendship.
The pair met as solo performers when Dane was 14 and Taylor Jones was 18.
Tom Jones’ distinctive voice and iconic records have earned him a place as one of the best-loved artists to emerge from the 60s, having sold more than 100 million records, with hits including It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah and What’s New Pussycat.
Now 76, he is still picking up accolades including a knighthood in 2006, BRIT Awards for Best Male and Outstanding Contribution to Music and GQ Man Of The Year.
The outdoor concert at St Lawrence will feature a collection of Tom’s most popular hits across the decades - including his latest albums, while Into the Ark will be warming up the crowds ahead of his performance.
Jamie Clifford, CEO of Kent County Cricket Club said, “We are really excited to now announce Into the Ark – they are an exceptionally talented duo certain to prove a huge hit with the crowds.”
