The Beach Boys will perform Sixty Years of the Sounds of Summer concert at Dreamland in Margate this June

The Beach Boys will perform six decades’ worth of hits against a backdrop of sun, sea and sand this summer.

The Californian chart-toppers will be bringing their iconic surfer sound to Margate’s Dreamland on Thursday, June 23 with their Sixty Years of the Sounds of Summer concert.

Co-founder, lyricist and vocalist Mike Love will take to the stage alongside Bruce Johnston, who has been part of the group since 1965.

They will be joined by Scott Totten, Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Keith Hubacher and Randy Leago for an unmissable night of music.

The band have an impressive discography spanning sixty years under their belts, including singles such as Surfin’ USA, I Get Around, Barbara Ann, Good Vibrations, Wouldn’t It Be Nice and Kokomo.

The Beach Boys’ famous back-catalogue was last performed in Kent at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, in 2014 by original band members Brian Wilson and Al Jardine. However, neither of these co-founders will be joining their former bandmates in Margate this year.

Having sold over 100 million records worldwide since their beginnings in 1961, the Beach Boys have become synonymous with American sound. The band’s work has seen them enter the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Their compilation album, Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of the Beach Boys, has achieved triple platinum status.

Dreamland will host several large outdoor concerts this summer. Acts heading to the Thanet coast include Sister Sledge, Paul Weller and Craig David.

Tickets to see the Beach Boys at Dreamland go on sale at 9am on Friday, February 4. They start from £49.50.
