With so much excitement around The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this summer, gather your friends and family together for the ultimate patriotic party at The Leeds Castle Concert on Saturday 9th July 2022.
Get ready to dress to impress, wave your Union Jack and raise a toast to the return of this incredible summer event. They’ll even be spot prizes of bottles of bubbly for the best dressed!
For over 40 years this spectacular event has been the highlight of the Kent social party calendar, offering a mix of much-loved classical favourites alongside new orchestral arrangements of popular songs, all performed live by the acclaimed Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO).
From daylight to dusk, the audience will be a sea of Union Jacks, candelabras and smiles. This really is a truly memorable evening with a diverse exhilarating programme. Let Conductor and Artistic Director John Rigby guide you through the evening’s entertainment, as you dance and sing along to well-loved favourites.
The Leeds Castle Concert will be a celebration of friends and family “meeting again” this summer, as concertgoers gather in anything from sparkly ball gowns to Union Jack shorts and flip flops! Corks will be popping across the Castle’s fairways as friends and family gather again for an afternoon and evening of world-class music set against the historic backdrop of Leeds Castle.
It will also be Pimms O'clock during the concert as England’s famous beverage will be served throughout the event.
As the gates open and people find their ‘spot’ on the hill at the start of this popular annual event, everyone will be in high spirits to be together again, hanging bunting, eating picnics and enjoying the rousing fanfares of the RPO with performances from returning soloists and some new faces.
Down for the Count Swing Orchestra will return to the stage with their electrifying show full of incredible energy and musicianship. The band recreate classic tunes from the Swing era but this is no mere nostalgia trip – as each song is performed in their unmistakable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music.
Down for the Count will really get the party started with top-class instrumental solos, sublime vocal performances and irresistible humour and joie de vivre.
As the sun sets over the historic 900 year-old Castle and the iconic Spitfire roars past in the skies above, candelabras will be lit across the concert site as the music continues until the fantastic firework finale.
And that’s not all - a rather fascinating guest will also be attending the concert. Make sure you’re there to find out who…
Dr John Rigby said: “I cannot wait to perform once again at the Leeds Castle Concert and we have a fantastic line up of soloists and programme this year. The people of Kent are always such an incredible audience. It will be wonderful to join the RPO to play live music again in such a magnificent setting! Roll on the 9th July!”
