Kent-based theatre company Changeling Theatre have announced all the details for this year’s highly-anticipated summer tour - and tickets are on sale now.
The company is known for its annual open-air tour which sees the cast and crew take two shows across the county each summer.
This year, the company will take two comedies on tour: William Shakespeare’s Love's Labour's Lost and Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The School for Scandal.
Described by Changeling as “Shakespeare does Bridgerton”, Love’s Labour’s Lost is one of the playwright’s earliest comedies.
The story of four boys and four girls who try to resist each other, despite their obvious infatuations, is widely believed to be a prequel to Much Ado About Nothing.
Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s comedy of manners - a satirical form of comedy that comments on the social conventions of high society - is a scandalous love story set in the 1700s.
When two unlucky-in-love singletons, Lady Sneerwell and Joseph, start spreading rumours in the hopes of splitting up a couple and taking the pieces for themselves, it doesn’t take long for the gossip to spiral out of control.
The tour will visit venues in and around Kent, including Walmer Castle, Rochester Castle, Belmont House, Penshurst Place, Allington Castle, Margate beach and Dartford Central Park.
The shows will also be staged at two Shepherd Neame pubs, the Three Mariners in Oare near Faversham and the Secret Drinker-approved Belle Vue Tavern in Ramsgate, for the first time this summer.
Both productions will be directed by Rob Forknall, Changeling’s Artistic Director, who is currently starring alongside Kent-born film star Gemma Arterton in the Sky TV series, Funny Woman.
Cast members from the company’s previous productions have gone on to work in a host of TV, film and stage shows such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe Theatre, Hamlet at the Dorfman Theatre, Netflix series You and BBC soap EastEnders.
This year’s cast is yet to be announced.
For the 2023 summer tour, Changeling Theatre will also be collaborating with Jam on the Marsh for the first time.
The arts organisation will be working with composer James Aburn and Changeling to create original music for this year’s productions.

The tour begins on Friday, June 30 at Boughton Monchelsea Place and ends on Sunday, August 20 at the same venue.
