Showcase Cinema to screen Christmas film Home Alone before Halloween

If you're feeling like Christmas may be the only thing to look forward to, one Kent cinema has read your mind and is set to screen its first festive film this weekend.

It will be nine weeks to Christmas and a week to Halloween when Bluewater's Showcase Cinema puts on the festive classic Home Alone - complete with snow and an auditorium decked out with all the seasonal trimmings.

The 1990 cult hit starring Macaulay Culkin will be shown for one day, on Sunday, October 25, to kickstart the season of goodwill early.

At the Cinema de Lux the winter wonderland feel will come complete with reindeer, Christmas trees, huge candy canes, a sleigh and a man-sized Nutcracker family as you arrive for the screening.

It's even going to snow inside the cinema to top off the authentic festive feel.

On bringing the first Christmas film to the big screen this year, Showcase UK general manager Mark Barlow said: “This year has been tough on everyone and, with Christmas looking to be very different for 2020, we wanted to invite film fans to start the festive season earlier than ever before and join us for some festive fun.

“We’re thrilled to be able to show Home Alone as every year it has consistently topped the polls as the nation’s favourite Christmas movie."

The film made a star of Macaulay Culkin back in 1990 when he played eight-year-old Kevin MacCallister who was unwittingly left home alone while his family went on holiday, and he was forced protect it from con men played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.

There will also be a festive chocolate surprise on each seat as part of the ticket price.
