It might be the hottest week of the year in Kent - but it hasn't stopped one popular Christmas attraction putting tickets on sale.

Whilst the county melts as the mercury rises, those behind the festive lights trail Christmas at Bedgebury have unveiled plans for this winter's event.

This is the third year that the after-dark illuminated trail has been held at Bedgebury Pinetum in Goudhurst - but visitors may see some changes this year if the coronavirus outbreak means some restrictions are still in place.

This year's magical lights are due to go on display on select dates from Friday, November 20 before running every day between Wednesday, December 9 and Christmas Eve, resuming each night from Saturday, December 26 with final tours on New Year's Eve, Thursday, December 31.

To the background soundtrack of festive classics visitors will be able to walk amongst tree canopies drenched in Christmas colour. There will be a light maze, giant baubles and snowflakes, singing trees, neon light strings with both forest and water-side spaces drenched in light installations.

The tunnel of light, festooned with more than 10,000 pea-lights, is also returning alongside the fire garden. Organisers say it will bring the sights and sounds of Christmas across the picturesque setting for a festive adventure amongst the trees.

Families keen to get organised can now pre-book tickets through the dedicated website for the event, where potential visitors can also learn more about how the attraction will manage the trail in relation to any coronavirus restrictions in place in November.

According to the website plans include reducing the number of tickets on sale within each time slot to allow visitors more space, revising this year's trail route to carefully manage the flow of walkers as well as the addition of extra cleaning and hand sanitisation stations.

Organisers say the traditional fairground rides and catering options for visitors - always a staple part of the event - are currently under review for this year because of the pandemic.

And for anyone concerned about placing a booking with the future of the virus outbreak still somewhat unclear - the site confirms that in the event that Christmas at Bedgebury has to be cancelled, ticket holders will be able to transfer their booking to the following year or get a refund.

Advanced ticket prices are £19.50 for adults, £13 for children and £60 for a family.
