The beautiful estate of Chartwell, near Westerham, was the much-loved family home of Sir Winston Churchill.
Churchill bought the property in 1922, living there until his death in 1965, and its influence on his life will be revealed this weekend as part of a National Trust programme, Uncovered: The Story of British Landscape.
Visitors will be able to enjoy talks and tours on subjects including Churchill’s love of butterflies; his paintings of the house and garden; and how he changed the landscape to create a place of peace and reflection.
The weekend will also include an architectural tour of the house; tours of the gardens, orchards and woods; a guided circular walk to nearby Edwardian estate Emmetts Garden; and a barbecue by the lakes.
The event takes place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22.
Normal admission charges apply of £12 for adults, £6 for children and £30 for families.
Some talks and tours carry additional charges. Call 01732 868381.
