Comedian Josie Lawrence will lead a night of improvised music in Kent next month.

Award-winning theatre company Improbable are bringing their energetic new show Day=Night, which includes off-the-cuff musical performances, to Canterbury for three nights.

The show will feature a different guest star every night and, together with the live band, they will come up with a new score on the spot.

The first night, which takes place on Wednesday, February 7, opens with special guest Ruth Bratt.

The actress is best known for appearing in the BAFTA-winning People Just Do Nothing and the 2022 Edinburgh Festival show Starship Improvise, created by Mischief Theatre who are also the minds behind the Olivier and Tony Award-winning Play That Goes Wrong.

The following night, on Thursday, February 8, Whose Line Is It Anyway star Josie Lawrence will be at the helm.

The London-based performer has dabbled in both stage and screen, appearing in Good Omens, Humans, EastEnders and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s The Taming of the Shrew.

The final night will see screenwriter and director Pauline Mayers step into the spotlight on Friday, February 9.

The theatre star has worked behind the scenes on acclaimed productions as a director, writer and choreographer and, in 2017, she starred in her own immersive show, What If I Told You.

The live band, aptly named the ImprobaBand, will be led by musical director Christopher Ash and includes Joley Cragg on percussion, Juliet Colyer on cello and Max Gittings on woodwind. They will perform a different score each night of the show.
