More on KentOnline
It’s the perfect time of year to stay indoors and order a takeaway - but where are the best places in Kent to get your foodie fix?
We’ve explored the most popular takeaway categories on TripAdvisor, from pizza to curries, fish and chips to Chinese, and picked some of the top-rated delivery and collection options across the county.
PIZZA
Chapter Sourdough Pizzeria and Bar, Canterbury
When Friday rolls around and you’re enjoying a night in front of the TV, you just can’t beat a pizza - and the sourdough pizzas from Chapter are some of the best. This cosy bar and restaurant in the Burgate area of Canterbury offers crispy woodfired pizzas with a range of toppings. Whether you fancy a classic margherita or something a little different, such as mushroom and rosemary potatoes or nduja and chilli flakes, the menu is pretty extensive - and there are a few beer and wine options that you can also get delivered to your door.

INDIAN
Indi18, Tonbridge
This five-star Indian restaurant in Tonbridge has been given rave reviews by just about everyone - not to mention our own reporter, who visited recently for an Eat My Words review. They sampled Achari Paneer Tikka, Zeera Chicken and Shaktora Ghoast in an attempt to try something new, but there are still lots of British Indian favourites to be had here, including madras and balti curries and pilau rice, naan breads and onion bhajis.
Where: 18 Avebury Avenue, Tonbridge TN9 1TN. Find out more here.
How to order: Online via the Indi18 website, call 01732 366677 or in person at the restaurant, for collection and delivery.
CHINESE
Royal Inn, Canterbury
The most recent TripAdvisor reviews for this Canterbury takeaway are a mixed bag, but its overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 sees it top the list of Kent’s Chinese restaurants so it must be doing something right. While there is the option to dine in here, the updated website is all about takeaway and the restaurant obviously pays careful attention to customers who will be tucking in from their sofas. You can choose from more than 170 options, including noodles, soups, curries and fried rice, as well as lots of vegetarian dishes.
Where: 1-2 Longport, Canterbury CT1 1PE. Find out more here.
How to order: Online via the Royal Inn website, for collection and delivery.
THAI
Pan Asian Cuisine, Margate
There are a fair few highly-rated Thai restaurants in Thanet, but this one in Margate had an endless list of five-star reviews when we were hunting online, and so it seemed only fair that it made the cut. Pan Asian Cuisine is a little more traditional when it comes to takeaways - you can’t order online and you’ll have to make your own way to the restaurant to pick up your food. However, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options as well as everyone’s Thai favourites, from green and red curries to sticky rice and spring rolls, it might just be worth the trip.
Where: 10 Fort Hill, Margate CT9 1HD. Find out more here.
How to order: Call 01843 295912 or in person at the restaurant, for collection only.
FISH AND CHIPS
Shakey Shakey Fish Bar, Ramsgate
This small fish and chip bar in Ramsgate might not look like all that much from the outside, but it offers a unique menu that has attracted many hungry visitors to the Kent coast. While your usual battered fish and sausages are still on offer, there’s also an extensive range of vegan dishes up for grabs. The restaurant has given the usual fish and chip shop menu a twist with options such as ‘tofish’ (battered tofu), crispy halloumi and veggie burgers, and there is also an entire gluten-free menu available too.
Where: 75 High St, Ramsgate CT11 9RJ. Find out more here.
How to order: Call 01843 851248 or in person at the restaurant, for collection only.
KEBAB
Faversham Kebab House, Faversham
There’s no better way to end a night on the town than with a huge kebab overflowing with salad, chips and chilli sauce. While many people’s memories of their drunken doner are rather hazy, those who can remember what they ate the night before have rated Faversham’s Kebab House as the best around. The small takeaway-only spot often has queues up the street come kicking out time and, while it doesn’t really offer much different than your usual doner kebabs, burgers and chips, it keeps the weekend crowd more than happy.
