Halloween 2016: where to head for a fright night for adults this Halloween across Kent

Love to get the fright of your life at Halloween? Here are some of the highlights for adults across Kent.

SCREAMLAND, DREAMLAND

Dreamland mutates into the award-winning Screamland after dark again this year with a scare festival which promises to be bigger and better.

There are five interactive scare mazes featuring real world environments which play on the different elements of Dreamland’s history. There will be sideshows and characters guaranteed to terrify the hardest of scare enthusiasts. It will run on Friday and Saturday nights from Friday, October 14 to Saturday, October 29. KENTAMINATED, KENT LIFE

The Maidstone attraction is holding its first adults-only Halloween Fright Night on Sunday, October 30 and Monday, October 31.

The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us and the once-beautiful Kent Life have been 'Kent-aminated', with the familiar buildings falling into disarray, with Brundle's Big Top transformed into a medical tent to cope with the growing numbers of casualties.

Along with fellow survivors, visitors need to gather at the registration point to be processed before being guided through Kent Life to the Safe Zone, the only way through the outbreak. BROADWITCH HAUNTFEST, SOUTHFLEET

New for this year at award-winning Broadwitch Hauntfest is Kent’s first scare attraction vortex within one of their haunts - but its exact location is remaining a closely-guarded secret until it opens on Friday, October 14.

Live night time experiences for older visitors include Thirteen where age-old superstitions challenge even the most rational minded person, it houses your darkest nightmares, feeding on your anxieties as you see horrors beyond your imagination. MassAcre is an intense and disturbing corn maze where fear and carnage await you within the killing fields of Massacre Farm. Within the Biometrix facility research into human gene technology on our soldiers has gone terribly wrong. The remaining two haunts, The Spooky Castle and The Edge aim to scare and enthral you.

The night haunts will also be open during the day but will not be "live" for those not quite brave enough for the night terrors. There are also children's events for Halloween. Visit broadwitchhauntfest.co.uk

CONTAGIOUS!, CANTERBURY TALES

Plague has swept across medieval England and terrified citizens are everywhere. Experience fleeing the Plague and travel the dangerous road to Canterbury, encountering the "Contagious" around every corner. Dare you make the journey?

The Canterbury Tale's Halloween event returns for its second year, promising to be more scary with a graveyard and street theatre. It will run from Thursday, October 27 to Monday, October 31, and is suitable for ages 14 and over. For details click

HOUSE OF THE DEAD, BLUEWATER

Will you emerge from the terrifying House of the Dead with your sanity intact?

Packed with your worst nightmares, Nightmare Emporium will take visitors on a walk-through journey into an unreal world with horrific monsters and creatures. Director of Evil at House of the Dead, Richard Cottier, said: “We look forward to welcoming the areas bravest men and women into our terrifying scare attraction this Halloween season. Scare attractions are the UK’s fastest growing entertainment sector. House of the Dead is bringing the very best in interactive horror experiences to Kent and we are very excited to hear just how loud we can make our guests scream, cry and shout for their Mum!"

Winding your way thought the twisting corridors you will encounter creatures that have never before seen the light of day and see nightmares too dark to be dreamed. The undead arrive on Thursday, October 6 for a special preview and to celebrate Student Lock-in, with discounted tickets for the night, before the attraction opens for the Halloween season on Friday, October 14 on selected days until Tuesday, November 1. HALLOWEEN HORRORS, FORT AMHERST

Not for the faint hearted, the annual Halloween Horrors arrive to scare visitors on Friday, October 21, running until Monday, October 31. There will be adult tours for 16s and over, teens, for 12 to 16-year-olds and children's for 12s and under.

TERROR TRAIL, BETTESHANGER COUNTRY PARK

Afraid of the dark? What could be lurking in the shadows - are you brave enough to find out? Join Betteshanger's boldest and walk the Terror Trail to parts of the park only few dare to venture to. The Terror Trail will run twice on the evenings of Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29m between 4pm - 5pm (for ages seven to 14, or easily-scared adults!) and 5pm to 7pm for over 15s, and costs £4 each or £12 for a group of four.

For the ultimate fright night, on Saturday, October 29, follow in the footsteps of the student filmmakers on the trail of the Blair Witch. Prepare for a chilling night hike through the woods, and bring blankets, torches and nerves of steel for an outdoor screening of the cult horror, also for over 15s, in association with the Open Air Cinema. GROOMBRIDGE PLACE, TUNBRIDGE WELLS

There will be a coven of Satanic witches occupying the woods as things get truly terrifying for Scream, on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. Each evening from 6.30pm to 9.30pm the forest will be the setting for a trail through the trees, where the witches will trail and spook guests as they wander through. Once visitors have braved the woods, they can make their way back to Crusoe's World for some warming street food, hot drinks - or something stronger if necessary!

SHOWCASE CINEMA, BLUEWATER

Showcase Cinemas has a season of cult classics and memorable movie moments, Flashback, with The Exorcist being screened for Halloween.
