She’s whirled around the dancefloor on Strictly – now see her become a flapper with a thoroughly modern take on life and love.
World Ballroom Showdance Champion and professional dancer Joanne Clifton will play the title role in the Bill Kenwright show, Thoroughly Modern Millie, which comes to Dartford next week.
She comes to the show fresh from her 2016 win on the show at Christmas with BBC sports reporter Ore Oduba.
Her brother, Kevin, is also on the show, and the pair went head to head in the final, as he partnered Louise Redknapp who also reached the final, along with Danny Mac with Oti Mabuse.
With explosive tap numbers to a Fred and Ginger dance routine on a window ledge, the show is set in the jazz age of 1920s New York.
Joanne may be a familiar face to Strictly fans, but she’s also carved out a career on the non-sprung stage, playing Marilyn Monroe in Norma Jeane The Musical.
Joanne stars alongside Lucas Rush, who took over in the role of Mrs Meers, the evil proprietor of the Hotel Priscilla, from Michelle Collins.
The winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film when “moderns” including a flapper named Millie Dillmount were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.
The show features hit songs including Gimme Gimme and Not For The Life Of Me. Choreography is by Racky Plews.
