Step into the imagination of comedian and writer David Walliams as the Demon Dentist comes to town.
The sixth children’s novel from the Britain's Got Talent judge, released in 2013, has been turned into a fun-filled family adventure, touring theatres up and down the country - including the Orchard Theatre in Dartford.
The story follows 12-year-old Alfie and 11-year-old Gabz, who notice that strange things have started to happen in their town after the new dentist, Miss Root, moves in.
Soon after, children are leaving their teeth for the tooth fairy and waking up to find unusual things under their pillows, and they notice that the dentist is giving them sweets and toothpaste that seem to do more harm than good.
Alfie and Gabz are determined to get to the bottom of things and, now, audiences are invited to join them on their journey.
This hilarious production of Demon Dentist comes from the same team of West End producers behind stage adaptations of Gangsta Granny and Billionaire. Both shows, based on previous books by the actor, were nominated for an Olivier Award.
“The Birmingham Stage Company has created amazing adaptations of my books, so I can’t wait to see their new production of Demon Dentist,” says the 51-year-old writer. “It’s going to be hilarious, jaw-dropping fun!”
David Walliams first shot to fame in BBC sketch show Little Britain, which he co-created and starred in with Bake Off presenter Matt Lucas. The series ran from 2003 to 2009 and, at its peak, was watched by 9.5 million viewers.
Since then, he has gone on to appear in another sketch series, Come Fly with Me, and comedy film Dinner for Schmucks alongside Paul Rudd and Steve Carell.
The actor took on a whole new role in 2012 when he became a judge on primetime show Britain’s Got Talent with Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell.
Since 2008, David Walliams has gained popularity as a writer, particularly of children’s novels. He has released 17 books since his debut, the Boy in the Dress, was released in 2008 and has received numerous awards and critical acclaim.
Demon Dentist is at the Orchard Theatre, Dartford, from Thursday, October 6 to Saturday, October 8. Book tickets here.
