Get ready for summer as hip-hop trio De La Soul bring the beach party to Kent fans.
The Grammy-award winning group will perform on the outdoor Scenic Stage at Dreamland in Margate.
The vintage funfair is hosting a number of huge outdoor concerts this summer, with artists such as Simply Red, Craig David and Tom Grennan set to visit in coming months.
With more than 30 years of sampling and rapping behind them, from their 1989 debut album 3 Feet High and Rising to their collaboration with Gorillaz on platinum-selling single Feel Good Inc. the New York trio have cemented themselves as hip-hop legends.
They are now travelling across the pond to perform their biggest hits, such as Me Myself and I and Buddy, for UK audiences.
The ‘90s icons will be celebrating their career with the MOBO award-winning British artist Blak Twang, who will support them at their headline show in Margate.
Blak Twang, along with London reggae musician Shumba Youth and rapper Truemendous, will appear on the line-up after original support band the Sugarhill Gang had to pull out of the show due to illness.
Speaking of the concert, event organisers People Dem Collective said: “This is an exciting moment for People Dem Collective as we present our first co-promoted event with Dreamland.
“It’s these types of collaborations that will allow us to go beyond simply platforming iconic black culture makers, towards creating truly reciprocal cultural ecosystems - profiling early career artists, through the mentorship and support of their idols, while broadening the breadth and enticement of the programmes offered to audiences.”
Also appearing at the outdoor concert is Ben Driftwood, Buddy Peace, Inky and Kenwa.
The show has been postponed from its original date due to the pandemic. All original tickets are still valid for the new date.
The concert is a 14+ and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
De La Soul are at Dreamland, Margate, on Saturday, July 23. Book tickets here.
