Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes to headline Maid of Stone Festival in Mote Park, Maidstone, this July

Kent’s newest rock festival has announced its second wave of artists, including a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Deep Purple singer and bassist Glenn Hughes will headline the Saturday night of Maid of Stone Festival this summer.

Maid of Stone Festival will take place at Mote Park in Maidstone from Friday, July 21 to Sunday, July 23. You can book tickets online here.

Glenn, who is also known for his short stint as frontman for Black Sabbath in the 1980s, will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple’s 1974 album, Burn.

The record-breaking band are known for their pioneering influence on heavy metal and hard rock, with huge hits such as Black Night, Strange Kind of Woman and Smoke on the Water.

The festival appearance is set to include many of the band’s biggest singles from more than 50 years in the business.

This latest announcement also includes heavy metal band Orange Goblin, former Kiss and Mötley Crüe support band The Treatment, energetic rock band the Hot Damn, and UK festival regulars Fury.

They join the likes of Airbourne, Skindred and The Hunna, who have already been announced.

The weekender will kick off with an opening night party on Friday, which includes Rockaoke, a rock-themed karaoke event taking place on the main stage.

There will also be bars offering cask ales, street food stalls, family entertainment and both camping and glamping options.
