Real-life Disney princess Lea Salonga is spreading her magic to theatres around the country.
The star of stage and screen will be performing hits from her back catalogue at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.
Philippines-born Lea Salonga shot to musical theatre stardom as the original Kim in Miss Saigon on the West End, before becoming the first actress of Asian descent to play Eponine and Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway.
Most know her, however, for being the voice of two of Disney’s most iconic princesses.
Lea leant her vocal talents to the singing voice of Jasmine in the 1992 animated classic Aladdin, which saw her perform arguably the film’s most well-known number, A Whole New World.
Just six years later, Lea once again found a new legion of young fans as she voiced yet another Disney character - this time, the titular princess in the 1998 film, Mulan.
She performed on the film’s soundtrack in songs Reflections, A Girl Worth Fighting For and Honor To Us All. She then returned for the sequel Mulan II in 2004.
Lea’s appearance in these three blockbusters saw her named an official Disney Legend by the Walt Disney Company, earning her spot among the likes of Robin Williams and the Sherman Brothers.
The Dream Again tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of Lea’s debut as a Disney princess, and will see the singer perform the songs her voice has become synonymous with.
“My first ever UK tour was in 2019 and it was a truly wonderful experience,” says the stage star. “Returning to the stage and to international touring will be an absolute thrill and I am so excited to get back to the UK, to meet fans again and to perform some of my all-time favourite songs.”
Expect musical theatre classics and a larger-than-life performance from true singing royalty.
Lea Salonga is at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, on Wednesday, June 29. Book tickets online here or call 01227 787 787.
