They may have roamed the Earth millions of years ago – but now they’re back!
There are now two venues in the county where you can meet hundreds of dinosaurs this school holidays – and beyond.
Wingham Wildlife Park, near Canterbury, has opened its dinosaur attraction, which has almost 30 life-sized robotic dinosaurs in a special enclosure.
As well as a T-Rex – complete with a Jurassic Park-style Jeep – you can also see scary raptors and a huge diplodocus among the prehistoric predators and leaf eaters.
Children can dig for dinosaur bones in a sandpit and have their picture taken peering out of a giant dinosaur egg.
It is the latest investment in the hugely-popular park by owner Tony Binskin. He said: “The technology has moved on and these dinosaurs are among the latest and best. The way they move and roar is really going to excite the kids.”
There are also a range of other live animals, including lions, tigers and penguins and a soft indoor play area for children. For details go to winghamwildlifepark.co.uk
Also in the county, near Hythe, there’s some epic adventure to be had at Port Lympne Reserve’s Dinosaur Forest, which opened in time for the Easter holidays and has more than 100 life-sized dinosaurs.
The reserve also gives visitors the chance to learn about the creatures from rangers.
The new attraction coincides with Port Lympne’s 40th birthday. It was opened in 1976 by John Aspinall. For details go to aspinallfoundation.org or call 01303 264647.
