Still enjoying cult status on the soul, R&B and northern soul scenes, Geno Washington will be playing at Deal’s Astor Theatre on Saturday, December 6, at 8pm.
Geno was raised in Indiana and, after coming to England in the 1960s, found fame singing with top R&B acts.
He went on the road during the 1960s – including with the Small Faces and Jimi Hendrix – and had two of the biggest selling UK albums in that decade with his group the Ram Jam Band, with whom he will perform.
In later years, Geno forged a reputation for electrifying live performances.
He will be supported by Noel McCalla, who came to prominence in the mid-1980s with the jazz/funk band Morrisey-Mullen, while also providing vocals on Mike Rutherford’s highly-acclaimed album Smallcreep’s Day.
Noel is now fronting the Noel McCalla Acoustic Trio group, singing soul, jazz, R&B and originals. Tickets cost £22 or VIP balcony seating costs £27.
