A festival of contemporary theatre is being held in the county this weekend. .
Looping The Loop has been organised by two London producers, Battersea Arts Centre and Fuel, working in collaboration with venues across Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate.
Shows include the Paper Cinema’s Odyssey, an original take on Homer’s epic tale which sees intricate, hand-illustrated puppets manipulated and projected onto the sail of Odysseus’ boat to create a unique silent movie.
The performance is accompanied by an original live score performed on a musical saw, violin, bubblewrap, guitars, assorted keys, drums, electronics, a thundersheet and a power drill.
Youngsters will love Mouth Open, Story Jump Out about the wildly imaginative character Polarbear, who makes up stories, jokes and adventures. But why does he feel the need to tell tales? The show is aimed at ages eight to 11.
Gym Party is an anarchic, comic and thoughtful tale of hopeless determination. It speaks to anyone who frets about the state of the world, then gets distracted by a celebrity Tweet.
Looping The Loop runs from Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20. Admission prices vary, but run up to £5. Visit ramsgatearts.org/looping-the-loop for more information.
