One of the biggest events in Kent’s summer calendar is back for another weekend of animals, agriculture and awesome activities.

The Kent County Show returns to the Kent Event Centre in Detling to celebrate the county’s farming industry, fresh produce and local businesses.

There are lots of things to see and do over the three days, from livestock, horse riding and dog agility to fairground rides and outdoor workshops.

The animals are always the highlight of the show, and this year visitors can expect to see hundreds of cows, sheep and goats with their handlers.

The Equine Village will be home to incredible displays of horses and riders, showjumping competitions and a chance to meet the gentle giants.

There will also be a Grand Parade of Livestock, the K9 Aqua Sport splash zone and ‘dancing sheep’ in the daily Sheep Show.

However, it’s not just animals that make the show such a standout event.

There’s also the vintage vehicle display inside the Exhibition Hall, a chance to try out rural pursuits, shopping stalls, funfair rides, live music and the Produced in Kent food village.

The show is accessible by car - the venue is at the top of Detling Hill between junction 7 of the M20 and junction 5 of the M2 - and parking is free of charge.

You can also travel to the event via public transport. The nearest train station is Maidstone East and the x33 bus service runs from outside the station and King Street, opposite Boots.

The last shuttle bus back from the show leaves at 6.15pm.

It costs £5 to use the bus service and under 16s travel for free.

This year’s show takes place from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7 and is open from 8am to 6pm. Last entry is 5pm.
