Access to fresh air, a space to breathe and nature filled green spaces make us feel happier and healthier. Our local parks offer us all this and more for free.
Exploring the outdoors hasn’t always been easy for everyone but more parks, woodlands and open spaces are being made accessible with wider paths and removal of gates and stiles. Here are Explore Kent’s top picks for Swale.

Near to the village of Oare and a stone’s throw from Faversham town centre is Oare Gunpowder Works Country Park. Ideal for a family day out thanks to the surfaced walking trails around the site, which are helpfully colour coded throughout the woodlands. The abandoned site was developed into a country park with a unique blend of history and wildlife in 2003 thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
