Farms across the county will be opening their gates for the popular annual Open Farm Sunday this weekend, inviting people to come and find out more about farming and what farmers do. We've picked six to head for:
BROCKHILL FARM, HYTHE
You’ll see cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry at the farm’s Open Sunday on Sunday, June 9. The Brockhill Park Performing Arts College farm in Sandling Road, Saltwood, Hythe, is open from 1pm to 4pm.
There will also be children’s games, with a small charge which goes towards the Young Farmers’ Club and school farm funds. Entry is free for the day, and while at the farm you can buy some fresh homegrown produce from the farm shop and buy some refreshments. KAROBEN, SMARDEN
The farm in Smarden Bell Road, Smarden, is opening its gates for its popular Open Farm Sunday event on Sunday, June 9 between 11am and 4.30pm. It's animals galore at the site near Ashford as on show will be a herd of animal offerings: pigs, sheep, goats, horses and donkeys, plus chickens. Entrance is £1 for adults and 50p for children. You can also stock up on vegetables, salads, fruit and flowers and plants on the day. Park Farm is also an educational site teaching students about the joys of farming.

SOLLEY'S ICE CREAM, DEAL
Here’s a sweet treat you might not expect for Open Farm Sunday, but it’s not just ice cream on offer at Solley’s Ice Cream Parlour.
Opening for the event for the third year running, Solley’s will be offering the chance to see and learn about cereal crops such as barley and wheat, oilseed crops and see where the finished crop goes. You’ll also be able to see sheep on the day on Sunday, June 9. You can book a tour of the dairy on site when you get there, or try a tractor ride for 50p and join the farm trail. The day, which runs from 10am to 4pm, is free though there are some other charges. The ice cream parlour will be open selling food & of course ice cream and there will be a Produced in Kent food market. Parking will also be free. Details at solleysicecream.co.uk
MOTE FARM, IVY HATCH
Celebrate farming and farmers at the site in Ivy Hatch on Sunday, June 9 between 10am and 4pm. There will be tractor and trailer rides, a children's farm quiz and working machinery displays, as well as produce and the chance to see sheep, poultry and cereal crops. Entry costs £1 for over 12s, with funds going to Parkinson's UK. Dogs need to be kept on leads. Find out more at ightham.org/news or call 01732 833222.
GLOVERS, LONGFIELD
There will be a country show on offer too at Glovers Farm in Hartley Bottom Road, Longfield on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9. The family fun will include piglet racing, tractor rides and donkey rides and the chance to meet the animals, while entertainment includes a tug of wat and stalls and entertainment, as well as a funfair and classic cars.
