A new musical filled with canine capers is coming to Kent.
The stage adaptation of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, starring popstar Faye Tozer, is bringing playful puppies and wicked villains to Canterbury for five nights.
The musical, based on the animated film and 1956 children's novel the Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith, was first performed at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2022.
Steps singer Faye Tozer, best known for hits like 5, 6, 7, 8 and Tragedy with the noughties group, stars as the pooch-stealing villain Cruella De Vil.
After the pop band split in 2001, Faye starred in several theatre shows including Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Singin’ in the Rain.
She also appeared on the 16th series of Strictly Come Dancing and reached the final with her partner, Giovanni Pernice.
“I’m going into my wicked era with this dream role - it really doesn’t get much better than Cruella de Vil,” says Faye. “When they offered me the part, I just jumped at the chance. I love that it’s something people probably don’t expect me to do and can’t wait to create my own version of her for this incredible new musical.”
The show follows fashionista Cruella who sets out to swipe all the puppies in town for her fabulous fur coat, leaving Dalmatians Pongo, Perdi and their litter of tail-wagging pups in trouble.
The story is brought to life by music, written by Douglas Hodge, choreography and captivating puppets.
101 Dalmatians is at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury from Tuesday, July 16 to Saturday, July 20. You can book tickets online here.
