Saturday Night Fever starring Richard Winsor from Casualty

He was a casualty of Casualty, after his character, Caleb Knight, was killed off when he was stabbed by a patient’s relative, after more than three years in the popular BBC show.

Now Richard Winsor’s firmly hung up his stethoscope and swapped his scrubs for flares as he takes on the role made famous by John Travolta - which also made him famous in return.

After being the principle dancer with Matthew Bourne dance theatre company for a decade, he has taken on a literally all-singing, all-dancing role in the musical Saturday Night Fever, playing Tony Manero, the young dancer who sets the dancefloor on fire for his first starring role since leaving the medical drama.

The show, by veteran theatre producer Bill Kenwright, features a trio who are the closest thing to the Bee Gees you’ll see on stage today.

It features the familiar hits including Stayin’ Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, Tragedy and More Than a Woman, as well as other 1970s chart favourites from Boogie Shoes to Disco Inferno.
