If you feel like the weekend is never long enough, there’s a three-day weekender coming to Margate in the shape of a new festival, Margate Rhythm and Rock.
The music event runs from Friday, September 6 until Sunday, September 8 at Margate Winter Gardens, and promises an expertly curated line-up of legendary rock and blues artists.
Book-ending the summer festival season, classic rock stars appearing include the likes of Wilko Johnson, Lindisfarne and Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.
Other names joining the list are Focus, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band and The Blockheads.
Kicking off proceedings on the Friday, Stage 1 has Newcastle folk rock royalty Lindisfarne, The Men They Couldn’t Hang and punk rock polymath Edward Tudor-Pole.
The Saturday will see rock n’ roll survivor Wilko Johnson bring a foray into fret mastery hile prog rockers Curved Air and Geno Washington play.
The final day will feature Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, as well as The Blockheads playing the soundtrack of the late Ian Dury, and Nashville’s own Skinny Molly on the second stage.
Organisers stress they have boycotted off limits “luxury” areas so everyone has access to all.
