Foodies will be in their element this weekend as the Broadstairs Food Festival returns to the coast.
Held at Victoria Gardens and the seafront promenade, it’s a chance for local producers to showcase their goods and will run from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6.
There will be more than 100 stalls selling everything from cheeses and meats to drinks and breads.
Now in its eleventh year, the festival also features a range of small ticketed events in the theatre marquee. They include Meet the Food Writers on Friday, October 4 at 3.30pm, when Jane Wenham-Jones, festival compere, will be chatting to award-winning local chef, Matt Sworder and food writer Catherine Phipps. Tickets include a few nibbles and a glass of prosecco.
On Saturday, October 5, at 11.30am cheese lovers will be well catered for with The Perfect Cheeseboard, staged by Heritage Cheese UK. Shane Holland of SlowFood UK will be telling tales of the unexpected as he brings together elements that make the perfect cheese board.
Also on Saturday night the theatre marquee will host the Mighty Fine Cocktails finale when Rob, of Mighty Fine Things, will be stirring things up using Coxy’s Kent liqueurs and flavoured spirits.
Of the local food and drink producers showcasing their wares will be Gadd's Ramsgate Brewery and Marden-based Anno Distillers, Brays Bees and Cheesemakers of Canterbury.
Kentish Cobnuts from Potash Farm near Sevenoaks will run shoulders with burgers from the Radburger Company in Canterbury and cured and smoked meats from the Kent Collection in Cranbrook. There's also children's activities and a Children's Arthouse on the Sunday.
The festival is open from 10am to 6pm on the Friday and Saturday and 10am to 5pm on the Sunday. It is free to enter.
