Rock band Elbow are the latest band to be announced for this summer's Forest Live gigs.
Fronted by Guy Garvey, they will play Bedgebury Pinetum near Goudhurst on Saturday, June 17, as part of the Forestry Commission's annual tour of music in woodland settings. Support for them on the night is yet to be announced.
Since their debut album, 2001’s Asleep At The Back, the band have become one of the most important bands in contemporary British music.
Releases include Cast of Thousands, Leaders Of The Free World, The Seldom Seen Kid, Build A Rocket Boys and 2014’s The Take Off And Landing Of Everything, that debuted at the top of the UK charts.
Their musical journey has included two Ivor Novellos and a BRIT award for Best British Band.
Renowned for the intimacy of their live shows, they took part in the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games, playing their classic track One Day Like This and they also recreated their Mercury Prize winning album, The Seldom Seen Kid, with the BBC Concert Orchestra from the world famous Abbey Road Studio One.
They will be releasing their seventh studio album, Little Fictions, on Friday, February 3.
Already announced for Forest Live is Rick Astley, who will play Bedgebury on Friday, June 16.
Rick, who shot to fame in the 80s with hits including Never Gonna Give You Up, has recently had his first No.1 album in 29 years, with 50.
Forest Live is organised by the Forestry Commission to bring forests to new audiences with funds raised going towards protecting, improving and expanding England’s forests and woodlands.
