Proms in the Park, an annual concert held in Maidstone, will return to the county town over the late May bank holiday weekend.
The event, hosted by Maidstone Borough Council, will invite visitors to Whatman Park from 3pm, with a welcome address from the Mayor of Maidstone.
The music kicks off at 3:15pm with an opening set from the town’s own Invicta Jazz Orchestra, who have been performing swing, jazz, funk and rock music across Kent since the 1990s.
The Hazlitt Institute Choir, consisting of talent from Maidstone’s Hazlitt Theatre, will keep the music coming with everything from musical theatre to acapella numbers.
Two solo artists - singer-songwriter and Jah Wobble collaborator Clea Llewellyn and acoustic guitarist Fred Clark - will continue the concert into the evening.
Completing this year’s line-up is the Maidstone Wind Symphony, who will be performing a headline set from 6:45pm.
The award-winning wind orchestra is made up of amateur musicians from Kent and the South East who perform contemporary wind band music.
“Proms in the Park will be a fantastic celebration of music, all for free,” says Claudine Russell from MBC. “We are encouraging everyone to dress up for the occasion, bring your own food, picnic blankets and chairs, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a relaxing spring day in the park.”
The free concert takes place on Saturday, May 27 from 3pm to 8pm at Whatman Park in Maidstone.
