Get ready for a Pride party as pop trio Sugababes headline the Margate Pride celebrations this summer.
Margate Pride Festival is a live music and entertainment concert celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and will be held at the town’s outdoor venue, Dreamland, this August.
Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy began performing together as the Sugababes in 1998.
Their first album, One Touch, was released in 2000 and reached the Top 40 charts in several countries.
Since their formation, the group has achieved six number one singles, including Freak like Me, Round Round, Push the Button and About You Now. They also reached the top 10 album chart five times over the course of their 24-year career.
Over the years, the members have changed several times, most notably to include singer Heidi Range, but the original trio reunited in 2019 and have toured together ever since - including their upcoming show in Margate.
The trio will be joined on the day by the Fabulous Lounge Singers, a three-piece swing band who will be performing their unique covers of Pride-themed pop songs, and Don One, a drag king who recently starred in the West End show Death Drop.
The line-up also includes Bollywood entertainment from Hungama and live music, dancing and DJ sets from the Margate Pride queens, all hosted by comedian Jack Rooke.
When the Margate Pride Festival was originally announced, it was ‘90s pop group All Saints who topped the bill. However, since the concert was postponed due to Covid restrictions, the group are no longer able to perform and the Sugababes have stepped into their shoes.
The venue has confirmed on its website that all original tickets purchased will still be valid for the concert this year, despite the line-up changes.
The Pride celebration concert is part of Dreamland’s summer series of concerts.
Big names coming to the seaside venue this summer include Simply Red, Craig David, Tom Grennan and DJ Yoda.
Margate Pride Festival takes place on Saturday, August 13 at Dreamland. Doors open at 4pm, last entry is at 10pm. Book tickets here.
