Gavin and Stacey star Alison Steadman to appear at Faversham Literary Festival 2025

Gavin and Stacey star Alison Steadman is set to appear at a Kent book festival in the spring.

The actor, who will return to our screens as Pam Shipman in the sitcom’s highly-anticipated Christmas Day finale, is discussing her memoir, Out of Character, at next year’s Faversham Literary Festival.

The two-time BAFTA nominee will talk about her remarkable career, from creating the role of Beverly in the award-winning Abigail's Party to starring alongside Colin Firth in 1995’s Pride and Prejudice.

The 78-year-old will also reminisce about her appearance in Fat Friends, where she worked with her future Gavin and Stacey co-stars James Corden, Ruth Jones and Sheridan Smith, and her role in this year’s most talked about Christmas special.

The final episode of Gavin and Stacey, in which Alison plays the glamorous Essex housewife Pam, will air at 9pm on BBC One on Christmas Day.

The show, which also stars Joanna Page, Rob Brydon and Larry Lamb, first aired from 2007 to 2010, with a surprise reunion episode in 2019.

Alison Steadman will be at St Mary of Charity Church in Faversham on Friday, February 28. You can book tickets online here.

The line-up for next year’s literary festival also includes appearances from Olivier Award-winning actor Harriet Walter, comedian Pam Ayres, dancer Wayne Sleep, fashion designer Zandra Rhodes and Paralympian Jonnie Peacock.

There will also be local Kent authors, children’s writers and workshops.

The festival runs from Friday, February 21 to Saturday, March 2 at various venues in Faversham, including the Alexander Centre, The Guildhall, the Assembly Rooms and the Old Brewery Store.
