This year’s Create Festival will be turning the clock back to the 1990s when Dodgy take centre stage.
The group, best-known for their tracks Staying Out For The Summer and Good Enough, will be headlining the main stage at the Ashford festival on Sunday, July 28.
One of the biggest acts of the UK’s Britpop scene 20-odd years ago, the band have just released their first album in 15 years – to rave reviews.
Another star of the 1990s, Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, kicks off the Create festivities with a special Friday Night Sound Check. The performance, taking place on Friday, July 26, will see support from Hatcham Social and will be a new addition to the festival’s full line-up.
Create organiser Chris Dixon said: “This is a real coup for Create, which has been steadily building its reputation as one of the best free music festivals in the South East, with more and more promoters and musicians wanting to be part of the excitement.”
Now in its 18th year, Create takes place in Ashford’s Victoria Park. With four stages of music, food stalls, a licensed bar and plenty of family friendly entertainment, the free one-day festival regularly attracts upwards of 12,000 music lovers. The event runs from noon to 8pm.
Tickets to the Friday Night Sound Check, that takes place in St Mary’s Church, are £15.75 and £11.25 for under-16s. Book through Right Track Music, Ashford’s Tourist Information Centre or online at www.createfestival.co.uk
