There's a reason the traditional themepark Dreamland was a hit for so many years: rides, games, tradition and the seaside are all fun.
For the Frosted Fairground's first weekend, there was an air of anticipation - and a chill - around the themepark, as visitors seemed unsure, but excited, about what they were going to see.
The site's first vintage market had brought many retro-loving visitors with 50s-style hairdos and clothing to the town, and they were in for a treat: even the most ardent modernist could be bowled over by a fully working 70s mini pinball machine, a brightly-coloured 80s trim phone and games, clothes and records from your childhood.
The vintage market will return on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
At the Frosted Fairground children could help the elves get organised for Christmas ahead of their meeting with Santa. Helping Betty Bear mix the magic reindeer food even ended with them taking home their own bag of food to leave out on Christmas Eve.
There was pop-up panto, that might surprise you when it pops up, and carol singing. You can also enjoy a Christmas tale in the Secret Story Tent.
And of course, there are rides. The Scenic Railway was not open on the opening weekend, but is due to be up and running again soon. Vintage rides also now include the 60s Waltzer. Wrap up warm if you're heading for the Big Wheel - it gets nippy up there this time of year - and brace yourself for the ghost ride. There's also the Mirror Maze.
While in Margate, there's no doubt the town has its appeal - even when you need a woolly hat and thick coat to walk along the seafront, the beach still looks inviting.
The pleasure park has been transformed for the festive period at weekends and holidays until Monday, January 2. It is shut on Christmas Day but open daily noon to 6pm from Saturday, December 17, and noon to 4pm Christmas Eve.
