It’s been some time in the pipeline, but there should be some good games on offer this weekend, as the Medway Rapture Gaming and Creative Festival finally arrives.
The festival has been rescheduled twice but will now be held at the Historic Dockyard Chatham on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4.
The family-friendly event will have something for everyone, from gaming pros to novices and there will be gaming fun and interactive exhibitions for all ages to get involved with.
From 10am until 4pm each day there will be open retro challenges to have a go at and at 4pm the winners will be announced, with show trophies.
There will be more than 40 tables selling merchandise, with two merch markets set up in the main hall and a third in the Wargaming and Tabletop Zone, so you can pick up everything from Geek wear to board games and cosplay items.
Cosplay communities joining in the fun will include the Imperial Outlanders, a non-profit worldwide Star Wars costume club and Medway Ghostbusters, who are active supporters of Demelza House Children’s Hospice and the Wadebridge Homeless Project charities.
Sports on offer include a boxing arena; archery tag and a multi sport pop-up area, which includes tennis, football and tri golf.
Visitors can do battle in the Nerf Battle Arena with a variety of different game modes and a huge armoury of Nerf weapons to choose from, all run by Medway Youth Services.
The dockyard site lends itself to the festival with its open halls and the event will run at 25% capacity. Visitors need at least one member per household to have done a free lateral flow test within 48 hours of the day and masks need to be worn by those over 10.
Bus routes between the bus and train stations and the dockyard will be providing a special rate of £1.50 for event guests, applied both ways and is valid on the following services, 101, 1 and 2.
Tickets cost £15 for a full day or £28 for a weekend, plus booking fees. To book click here.
