Theatre fans will be able to enjoy glamping alongside a Kent castle while watching world class Shakespeare this spring.
World renowned players from Shakespeare’s Globe will kick off their tour with a trio of The Bard's plays at Chilham Castle in May to open their tour and, for the first time, there will be glamping on offer over the weekend.
After last year’s success, the troupe will perform at the castle, in association with Canterbury Festival, from Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19.
Pericles, The Comedy of Errors and Twelfth Night will be performed across the three days, with both matinee and evening performances, in the same style as a touring production would have been staged in the 17th century, with a stripped-back booth stage, and a small, versatile troupe of actors.
The cast will be taking on multiple roles and playing instruments too, performing tales which cover those who have crossed seas and lost their families, are seeking lost homes, and finding out what belonging means to them - themes which are as relevant today as they were when they were written.
And Chilham Castle will host glamping with Events Under Canvas for the event.
Theatregoers will be able to relax in a fully-equipped bell tent, with the castle as a backdrop when not watching the shows, and enjoy an exclusive tipi bar, street food and log fires.
With sold out performances last year, tickets are likely to get snapped up.
They cost £10 per performance from shakespearesglobe.com. For VIP access including a champagne and canapé reception in the castle’s Great Hall, it costs £50.
