Intrepid visitors can challenge their sense of direction as Penshurst Place prepares to open its annual Maize Maze.
From this weekend the stately home, between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells, invites families to follow hidden clues as they try to find their way out of the perplexing eco-friendly puzzle.
The maze takes about 40 minutes to complete and this year the trail has a Magna Carta theme, celebrating the historic document’s 800th anniversary. Children can collect the clues on a game card, learning about the Magna Carta as they explore.
For smaller children, there’s a shorter 15-minute trail to follow in the mini maze, where they’ll collect shields and draw in missing parts of heraldic crests.
The Maize Maze opens daily from Saturday, July 18 until Sunday, September 6 and then again on the weekend of September 12 and 13.
Entrance to the maze is included in the standard garden ticket price at Penshurst Place.
Between Sunday, July 26 and Sunday, August 30, visitors can enjoy a variety of other activities and displays at Penshurst Place, such as falconry, medieval crafting and storytelling.
