Christmas dinner staples include turkey, sprouts and pigs in blankets. But how many different types of pigs in blankets do you like, know, or have even tried?
Now you can head to Margate to find out as the seaside restaurant Cinque Ports has launched its Sausage Party.
New chef Jim Thomlinson has created an exclusive menu of 100 different varieties, including a 32 sausage ‘weenie wreath’, a foot-long sausage wrapped in smoked streaky bacon, Whitstable rock oysters wrapped in crispy prosciutto and vegan options.
The brainchild of creative team Messhead, the pop-up Sausage Party serves all 100 pigs in blankets variations, with unlimited tastings for £20 per head. The menu is on rotation as a lunch special Wednesday to Saturday throughout the whole of December.
Jim said: “Like many people, pigs in blankets are my absolute favourite at Christmas, and it has been a long-held dream of mine to create a menu filled with these tasty treats, featuring epic versions of classic pigs, as well as putting a whole new spin on the concept. “I’m sure I’m not the only one whose idea of heaven is all-you-can-eat sausages.”
Also on the festive menu is Santa’s Whopper, a festive burger featuring a Christmas dinner in a bun. There’s also a Christmas cocktail menu from a Chocolate Orange Martini to a It’s a Wonderful Life, Cinque Ports’ twist on a classic Gin Alexander or if you want to follow the porky theme, there’s a Ham Daiquiri - a classic Strawberry Daiquiri with added spiced ham stock and a pig in blanket garnish.
There will be in-house DJs every Friday in the run-up to Christmas at the gastro pub, which was restored and relaunched last year.
Tickets for the Sausage Party are on sale via cinqueports.co.uk.
