Looking for a new way to get outdoors and active with the family? There’s a family fun day that ticks those boxes at Whitstable Yacht Club this weekend as part of the annual national sailing scheme Push the Boat Out.
The day on Saturday, May 5 will have free activities for all ages, on the beach and on the water including joy rides with experienced sailors on a range of boats. There will be information on a range of programmes run by the club from sailing lessons for novices, to youth sailing and family activities and sailing courses. Running between 11am and 5pm, the day will have seasoned sailors on hand to offer information and show visitors the ropes.
Joy rides in Whitstable take place from noon to 4pm and need to be booked in advance by emailing training@wyc.org.uk
For full details go to wyc.org.uk or follow the club on Facebook or Twitter.
Push the Boat Out is organised by the Royal Yachting Association and is a nationwide chance to have a go at sailing. There are dozens of sailing clubs opening their doors to beginners with events going on across the county.
