A new homegrown show at the Gulbenkian is a pile of pants – quite literally.
Getting Dressed invites you to dive into a world of colour, texture and movement as it explores clothes and getting dressed.
Have you ever put your coat on the wrong way? Or had a day when you just couldn’t be bothered with clothes?
The Second Hand Dance company invites us all to be as creative as we can with the clothes we wear, finding our own favourites and tempting us to try getting dressed just a little bit differently.
The thought provoking show mixes dancers, artists and the public for a highly visual dance performance for all ages.
Director and choreographer Rosie Heafford said: “Getting dressed by yourself is a huge milestone as a child as it shows independence, technical capability, maturity and the identity we choose to present to the wider world. I would like to encourage everyone, big and small to be playful with the clothes they wear.”
Liz Moran from the Gulbenkian, which commissioned the work, said: “Rosie is a highly gifted choreographer making visually stunning work that ignites the imagination of young, and not so young, audiences.”
Following the performance there will be a Stay and Play session where the audience can try dressing up in clothes from the show.
Suitable for ages four and up, the show is at the Canterbury theatre on Saturday, February 25 at 11am and 2pm. Tickets cost £8, from thegulbenkian.co.uk or 01227 769075.
