A heavenly TV comedy show filmed in Margate is due to hit screens on Friday.
Edge of Heaven is a new six-part ITV series about a family who run a 1980s-inspired B&B in Margate and stars Blake Harrison of Inbetweeners fame.
The production filmed in the town for 15 days in September and October 2013 with an estimated boost to the local economy of £95,000.
Programme producer Elaine Cameron said: “We absolutely adored shooting in Margate and Broadstairs last autumn.
“From the very first recce to see where we would set our actual B&B, until our last quite stormy day filming on the seafront, the locals have been hugely helpful, welcoming and inquisitive.
“We have hired local actors, dancers, theatre groups etc and used a hugely diverse range of locations – whatever we wanted, Margate seemed to have it.
“I would like to single out Sharon Kelley from the Thanet District Council Film Liaison, who has been tirelessly working alongside our locations department and really is one of those people who make things happen on the day.
“We can’t wait to come back if we are commissioned for a second series.”
Thanet District Council (TDC) and Kent County Council worked closely with members of the production crew for scenes on location.
Councillor Iris Johnston, TDC’s cabinet member for community services, said: “Thanet District Council are delighted that Margate was chosen for the series.
“The crew stayed in local hotels and had their meals locally which was a great boost to the local economy. We are looking forward to watching this new series and hope that it will be well received and that Hartswood Films return to film a second series in Margate.”
The series also features former EastEnders star Louisa Lytton who played Ruby Allen.
Edge of Heaven is on ITV this Friday at 9pm
