He’s presented the news to millions of TV viewers over an illustrious career and now Gavin Esler will be speaking to a Kent audience at his local theatre.

Best known as the main presenter of Newsnight from 2003 to 2014, Deal resident Gavin will be at the Astor Theatre on Friday, October 17. The 61-year-old has enjoyed a successful career and will talk to the audience about his new book, Lessons from the Top. It is based on his encounters with many current and past leaders from across the globe and is being published in paperback.

Gavin, who graduated from the University of Kent with a BA in English and American Literature in 1974, was appointed Chancellor of the university earlier this year. He is also the author of five novels and a non-fiction book about the United States.
