Maidstone: The Heritage Transport Show features more than 800 vintage vehicles and buses

If you wait for one bus this weekend...119 others might come along at once.

The Heritage Transport Show is set to pull up to the bumper at the Kent Showground for its ninth year, and organisers are expecting a recordbreaking number of vehicles.

There is likely to be some 800 heritage and vintage vehicles and 120 buses at the show when it is held this weekend. Last year there were 700 vehicles and 100 buses.

There'll be buses to impress any bus buff, cars with gleaming chrome and motorbikes to make you feel revved up.

Organised by the Kent County Agricultural Society, it is held in partnership with the South East Bus Festival each year and is one of the biggest heritage and vintage vehicle events in the south east.

A celebration of heritage and vintage vehicles, including cars, buses, motorbikes, steam and tractors, it also has a plethora of trade stands, an autojumble and a farmers' market, selling a range of Kent food and drink.

Heritage committee chairman Steve Pike said: “We are planning to make the 2018 Heritage Transport Show bigger and better than ever before.

"In previous years, we have had vehicles manufactured as far back as 1922 and this has given visitors a real sense of how much motoring and travel has developed over the years. By growing the show, we hope to provide a more immersive experience of how far transport has changed in the last 100 years.”

There will be an array of vintage and modern buses and guest speakers too.

And transport fans will be able to enjoy free rides around the showground in some of the vintage buses - just look out for the bus stops to catch a classic.
