Doctor Who is celebrating its 50th birthday – and you’re invited to the party. A special feature-length episode of the sci-fi series is being screened in 3D at cinemas around the county.

Five times winner of Best Live Act in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, madcap 11-piece band Bellowhead will be bringing their unique fusion of folk, funk, rock, world, jazz, music hall and classical music to Folkestone’s Leas Cliff Hall.

The Folkestone Book Festival draws to a close this weekend, but that doesn’t mean it is winding down. There is still lots on offer for literary lovers of all ages and interests, and we have put together a guide to some of the highlights.

More famous faces will be helping Kent get ready for the festive season this week. We round up some of the best Christmas lights switch-ons, and other fun yuletide events.

Dover’s White Cliffs feature in this week’s episode of David Dimbleby’s new programme, Britain And The Sea. The four-part series sees the veteran TV presenter set out on his boat, Rocket, to explore Britain’s relationship with the sea.

Canterbury’s own veteran prog rockers Caravan are coming home for a gig in Whitstable this week. In addition to their classic hits, they will be performing tracks from their first new album for a decade, funded by fans, as band member Geoff Richardson tells What's On.

The first 150 readers to take their copies of What's On to Crabtree & Evelyn stores in Canterbury, Bluewater and Ashford Designer Outlet can claim free Christmas gifts.

And we have some fantastic prizes to be won, including:

- A luxury one night stay at the White Lion in Tenterden, with breakfast and dinner for two.

- A VIP family Christmas experience at Leeds Castle

- Five bundles of Winnie the Pooh nursery goodies from TOMY

- Three pairs of top-price tickets to see The Duck House at London's Vaudeville Theatre, starring Ben Miller
